This week we have several affordable mid century modern houses across the country and two right by us in Kalamazoo, Michigan, designed by our architect, Norman Carver. (Skip straight to the bottom the this post if you want to see those first.) Needless to say. there is great architecture to be found everywhere!

With a rear facade reminiscent of architect William Kessler's own famous home, this unique 1964 house has fantastic potential. The floorplan looks a bit muddled and I suspect there has been at least one addition to blame. Needless to say, the bones are there and at $167k there's a good project ahead.

Spartan Modern in Columbus, OH - 1,983 sqft. ($450,000)
If you're looking for an authentic modern home, this 1949 house might hit the mark. Simple design and finishes throughout, this is truly honest architecture. Beautiful setting overlooking a pond, but it has a fair amount of work needed.

Harwell Hamilton Harris House in Chapel Hill, NC - 3,477 sqft. ($780,000)
Immaculate 1964 house designed by one of the modernist movement's leading architects. From the redwood board and batten walls, beautiful brickwork and trademark ceilings, this is a treat. Love the way the floorplan snakes around a courtyard and the range of spaces throughout.
