This unique find from the late 1930s comes from an iconic building in Cleveland, OH designed and lived in by architect Sigmund Braverman. With its striking early modern / deco tinged design, this is a large bookcase with a trapezoidal desk that sits simply on top creating a fantastic workstation. Complete with original glass top and Chartreuse paint on the shelves , this one off piece comes from the Brantley-Braverman Building at 2378 Euclid Blvd which still stands today. This piece was in the penthouse apartment of that building which Braverman shared with his wife for many years. See final photo for newspaper article from when it first opened. The bookcase and desk have been refinished and the painted areas cleaned. The bookcase is finished on the back so it could be used as a room divider too. The glass is in good condition with a few small chips on the underside. The right end of the unit ends abruptly as there was apparently a corner wall of shelves that continued perpendicular to this one. The room/office was, according to the previous owner, filled with floor to ceiling bookshelves like this. A rare and special piece of architectural design history.
