Stunning 1970s Danish conversation pit table from a Detroit mid century modern home. This huge teak platform floats on casters and is definitely not your everyday coffee table! Standing 60"x60" with a built in central storage area with flip top Brazilian Rosewood chess board this oversized table is so solid it can be sat on safely by multiple people yet can be easily repositioned. Beautiful old growth teak, high contrast white formica trim and what we believe are twin lighting recesses (currently unwired). The central chessboard can be flipped to a simple quartered teak design and is easily removed for access to storage or to use the center as a planter. As far as our research can tell us this is a one of a kind piece most likely designed and made for a unique conversation pit-type situation. This table would work best in a pit with a minimum open floor size of 8' x 8', allowing 18" for movement around the perimeter. Total pit size would be minimum 12' square taking into account 24" deep seating on all sides.

Dimensions:

60" square, 15 1/4" high

planter/storage is 24" square, 8 1/2" deep to top.
