This stylish walnut desk and dresser 'Mainline' set made by Hooker Furniture in 1961 is a nice sythesis of George Nakashima's Origins line (that debuted a few years earlier in1958 and Finn Juhl's Baker Modern line launched a decade earlier. A standout feature of the line is the reversible sliding doors allowing the user to choose from the Nakashima style cane with walnut strips or solid walnut by simply lifting the doors up and out, rotating and putting them back in. The desk may be the most overtly Danish modern inspired piece in the line with its asymettrical floating top and contrasting wood leg tips. These pieces are in good vintage condition with occasional edge and finish wear. The long dresser metal pulls are replacements but they function just as well as the originals. Priced and sold as a set.
