Rare modern cabinets designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller's Paldao Line in the mid 1940s. Featuring exotic Paldao veneer with iconic turned pulls and high contrast ebonized interiors, these modular cabinets are among many of Rohde's designs which influenced George Nelson's work for HM. Accoriding to design historian Katherine White, the wood pulls on these examples are a rarer version of the well known brass examples which HM turned to when brass became impossible to source during WWII. The dresser includes five drawers, one of which is cork and one felt lined. The other side features two adjustable shelves. The bar cabinet features a drop down bar with access to a mirror-backed bottle storage area while the lower section allows additional storage. Both cabinets are in very good original condition with minimal signs of wear. Sold and priced as a pair.
