This rare and early chaise longue was designed by Hans Wegner in 1954. Crafted from solid oak with brass hinges and iron hardware, this versatile chaise can be a reclining chaise, a separate reclining chair with a stool, or, when laid completely flat, a handsome bench. The frame is elegantly sculpted with organic forms and reduced to the bare essentials, a hallmark of Wegner's designs.
The fumed oak frame is incredibly sturdy. All original hardware has been cleaned, the original cushion covers have been cleaned with new foam inserts and buttons installed, all to increase the comfort and style of the chaise. While the springs are original, a new spring cover was fabricated in keeping with the original design. A real collectors item.
Dimensions:
Each section is 23 1/2" long x 29 1/2" deep x 16" high (when laid flat)
Total length is 70 1/2"
