Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: November 16th 2018
There are some spectacular and unique homes included in this week's roundup of mid-century modern homes for sale. A top pick is the incredible pyramid house in Vermont, but the post and beam beauty in North Dakota is great competition. There's also one California "stretch the budget" house for those who like to dream.
Pyramid House in Warren, VT - 1,807 sqft. ($475,000)
Houses don't come more unique than this 1969 design by David Sellers and William Reineke. With its interesting faceted design, triangular windows and towering stature, it is anything but cookie-cutter. Plenty of natural light and wonderful views afforded by the 2.6 acre lot. One to be experienced.

Post and Beam in Bismarck, ND - 2,031 sqft. ($379,000)
A nice 1958 modern by local architect Robert Ritterbus and his wife Julie. Very complementary detached garage design and a wall of south facing windows to benefit from solar gain. Beautiful natural wood cabinetry and beams. Could benefit from some nice clean-lined mid-century furniture to allow the space to breathe a bit more.

Courtyard Home in Jacksonville, FL - 2,667 sqft. ($269,000)
Character filled 1968 home by local architect Ted Pappas centered around a courtyard for privacy. Love the angled eaves, interior wood screens and the many sliding glass doors that open up to the courtyard. Current furniture is terrible and the house needs a bit of work to recapture the original aesthetic, but in the right hands this could be a great home.

Stunning Mid-Century House in La Cañada Flintridge, CA - 2,219 sqft. ($1,899,000)
Excellent organic architecture here by architect William Duquette with natural stone used masterfully to make the 1958 structure really feel at home with the site. Some great structural details with the post and beam frame creating shelter but also openings for light and views of the picturesque lot. Of course this all comes with a hefty price tag but we can dream! Open house this Sunday 11/18.

Mid Century Needs Help in Saint Petersburg, FL - 1,246 sqft. ($229,000)
This 1953 modern has great bones but has unfortunately been painted with a southwestern theme of red and green. Reverting back to more natural colors and furnishing with some period pieces would let this one shine. It has a great open floor plan, a glassed front and nice structural details.
