Mid Century Modern Real Estate for Sale, Aug 24th, 2018

We're upping the wow factor this week with some show-stopping homes. There's Paul Rand's breathtaking Connecticut home that just hit the market as well as beautiful properties in Florida, Washington, Ohio and New York.

Tim Seibert Masterpiece in Nokomis, FL - 2,001 sqft. ($1,995,000)

While this one is out of most people's price range, we can still dream! This stunning 1965 post and beam home really makes the most of the site with floor to ceiling glass in front and rear, providing a light filled space and amazing views of the bay beyond. Carefully placed landscaping and a unique entry screen provide enough privacy to avoid the feeling that you're living in a glass box. Great pool area on the north side of the home and over half an acre to enjoy.

1959 Beauty in Edgewood, WA - 3,059 sqft. ($765,000)

It's all about the view in this glass walled home with a spectacular vista of Mt. Rainier. All rooms have glass and a deck, and the lower patio provide plenty of viewing options. While it has been updated, it's nice to see the high contrast beams and original lower block fireplace have been retained- something we much prefer over the all too common 'white out' practice of flippers.

Paul Rand's Home in Weston, CT - 3,400 sqft. ($895,000)

We were reluctant to include this home as it has been shared widely on social media but how could we not? It's a sublime modernist home which immediately relaxes you with its Japanese aesthetic and nature/man counterpoint. We love the stone walls, walls of glass, courtyards, amazing wooded site and Rand's studio / office is to die for.

Barrel Vault Home in Rochester, NY - 3,459 sqft. ($425,000)

This is a really nice designed 1960 home with a distinctive barrel-vaulted roof line and a rear that opens on to a wonderful patio. Nice redwood panelling warms up the all white interior. With some carefully chosen mid century modern furniture this one could be really special.

MCM in the Woods in Cincinnati, OH - 2,468 sqft. ($344,900)

Architect Rudy Herme designed this home in 1958 and it sits next door to artist Charley Harper's house on a wooded 2.5 acre parcel. Some really nice details including the tapered beams, glass rear looking out into the woods, beautiful entry/ staircase and wide open plan living provided by the post and beam structure.
